Smartphone Market Share (some real numbers)

As I had calculated earlier in this post, Kantar WorldPanel was wrong, Apple did not get the majority of the US market in 4Q2012.

This Apple Insider article has the details.

For the U.S. Smartphone Market (from comScore's MobiLens):
Platform3Q20124Q2012Change
Android52.5%53.4%0.9
iOS34.3%36.3%2.0
Blackberry8.4%6.4%-2.0
Windows Phone3.6%2.9%-0.7

Apple did increase its share relative to Android, but given the timing of the release of the iPhone 5 and the aggressive pricing of the iPhone 4S and 4, that is not shocking.

What is shocking is that Window Phone Lost market share during the period. Windows Phone 8 got lots of buzz and the Lumia got rave reviews. This is really not good news for Windows Phone.
